Does anyone have any insight on this problem?

The CD is a full version of XP Pro, it is just an OEM rather than a retail copy. It was not shipped with a pre-installed version of Windows on a pre-built PC. I bought it as a bare disk, and I have used it to install XP Pro onto blank HDDs in built-from-scratch PCs on two separate occasions... with no troubles.

A co-worker who goes home at lunch brought back his downloaded-from-the-net-and-burned-onto-CD corporate version of XP Pro with slipstreamed SP1 and SP2. I tried installing from that disk, and the (legal) corporate keys were accepted fine when the install was done from this disk, whereas these same keys were NOT accepted when I used legal, holographically-stamped legitimate media. I had a similar problem. XP SP2 computer hosting simple file and printer sharing on a home workgroup---all users with full access. After upgrading to SP3, this computer was invisible to the rest of the workgroup. From Vista Home Premium computers the XP SP3 computer could not be found in the network map, mapped drives were showing as being in use and could not be reconnected, and shared printers were in "opening" mode.
